Are you a young person, aged 18 to 28, living in Bosnia & Herzegovina, Serbia, Albania or North Macedonia and you want to become more active in your community and build a better present and future?

With “Act Your Way”, a Youth Lab organized by the Schüler Helfen Leben Foundation, you can learn how to be a civic actor and develop your own form of active participation in your local reality!

About Act Your Way

For one whole week, from the 13th to the 19th of November, you will have the chance to meet 25 youngsters like you from all around the Western Balkans, who share your belief that a change is needed and, just like you, want to be a part of it! You will explore many different forms and ways of doing activism and being active on the topic you care about, with multiple experts who will give you the support you need to take your first steps to make a difference in your present.

Whether you’re interested in how to engage in meaningful participation, the power, influences and opportunities or the different levels and barriers to youth engagement, or even if you care more about organizing your community or influencing decision makers with advocacy, campaigning and storytelling, or even if you want to approach your peers to engage them in joining you in bringing the change you would like to see into reality, Act Your Way is exactly the right opportunity to deep dive into all of these topics, and way more!

You will also have the chance, alongside your fellow participants, to focus on the issues that you all actually care about, and not just what everyone thinks you should focus on, for some reason!

All the activities will take place in SHL House in Sarajevo, a space built by volunteers for young people to train, engage and participate safely in Bosnia & Herzegovina.

The regional United Nations initiative ‘Youth 4 Inclusion, Equality & Trust’ empowers young people to engage in constructive narratives, strengthen intercultural dialogue, inclusion, gender equality and create mutual understanding and trust. Collaboratively, UNESCO, UNDP, UNFPA, UN Women, and relevant partners from the public sector, media, civil society, academia and culture – are working together with youth to increase comprehension and respect for diversity in the region, financially supported by the UN Secretary-General’s Peacebuilding Fund.
