Refugees in Southeast Europe: Insights from Macedonia, Serbia, Hungary and Germany

In the past days, weeks and months unbelievable scenes have been taking place along the borders and train stations of the refugee route in Southeast Europe - while the EU occupies itself with discussions on quotas and regulations. What is the current situation of refugees like in Macedonia, Serbia, Hungary and Germany? Where and by whom do refugees receive support?  Where have they experienced fear and aggression? And: What can we do to support refugees - no matter where we are?We will discuss these and other questions in a google hangout on 15th of September, 04:00 p.m. with friends and experts from various places who are closely following current developments:

Anica Stojanovic works as a coordinator at the Youth Center CK13 in Novi Sad, Serbia. She is also a writer/ journalist for the online portal Masina.rs and active in the field of socially-engaged art and education.

Slave Angelov is public relations officer for the Center for Social Initiatives Nadez in Skopje, Macedonia, and has been involved in voluntary work with refugees passing through Macedonia.

Sarah Zitzlsberger is currently a volunteer at CK13 in Novi Sad, Serbia and a supporter of the refugee struggle in Berlin and Hesse, Germany.

The discussion will be presented and facilitated by Dinah Riese, who is a cultural scientist and a journalist based in Berlin. She has recently been reporting on the situation of refugees from Budapest and from the Hungarian-Serbian border.
